A walk in the Flinders Ranges

25/09/2022 10:14 Australian Central Standard Time (South Australia)

Sometimes I've to travel for work to try our shiny new software in the field. This time we worked near Port Augusta for two weeks and because I'm too lazy to drive back home for the weekend, I stayed and spend the time with a few colleagues. One of them is a passionate climber and bushwalker who seems to spend every free minute in the Flinders Ranges. He invited us to a bushwalk and guided us up the vertical wall that you will see below:

There is a kind of station where the wall begins. Some people camp here and it even has a first aid kit under a tarp

There is a hollow rock up there, very well hidden. It has room for multiple people inside it

Our way back down. Good to have an experienced guide; it is certainly possible to fall down here

The sign got put up after a number of deaths (one in 2014 and two in 2019). So being safety aware is important. But anyway, it was an amazing experience!
